![]() The NYPD released footage of the incident on Friday as it seeks the public's assistance in identifying the gunman. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear. There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. Simeon lived around the corner from the scene, police said. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Pierrot Simeon. The young man was transported to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a victim who was shot multiple times in the torso and once in his left arm. The incident took place in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, at the corner of Clarkson Avenue and East 53rd Street. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a male shooting victim at approximately 2:20 p.m. Helps to feel the connection between actions, "the dance".A video recently released by the New York Police Department ( NYPD) shows the point-blank shooting of a cyclist outside of a deli. I normally reuse the last action from the enemy to expand the description of the players action. Orc hits and ranger hits with disadvantage: Taking a brutal wound to the thigh you still manage to put an arrow to his shoulder as his defence is lowered whilst preforming the blow.īoth miss: You dodge a fierce swing leaving no time to draw your arrow.Īnd the better one where the orc hits and the ranger misses: WHAM! A force brought by pure mussels puts you out of balance, damaging you and interrupting your next attack. Rising from the dodge you clonk the arrow to his chest. Orc miss and ranger hits with disadvantage: As the orc swings his axe once more you duck and you barely find time to draw another arrow. Or you could justify the act with some juicy explanation. (If you've got the balls to go against RAW'riders, that is) If you find it untrustworthy to let a bowman shoot at a closeup axeswinging orc, I'd say he'd get an opportunity attack. Otherwise, if there isn't any such clarification, I'd love to hear what other peoples take on the no-point-blank-shots idea? But if there is clarification somewhere that I haven't been able to find, and someone can point me in the right direction, that would be grand! Since I haven't been able to find anything clarifying it or asking for clarification, it may be that it isn't something that needs clarification for anybody else. This is probably because it's Intended that you can always make a point blank shot if you want to, and I may be reading too much into something somewhere (probably the improvised weapons section). Reading the Crossbow expert: "Being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn't impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls." So if you can make a ranged attack against a creature in close combat, then it's no longer at disadvantage, but I still haven't found anything saying whether you can or not. But it could also be that the Intention was that you weren't able to take a point blank shot, and so attacking a creature so close to you would require a melee weapon attack. ![]() it also deals 1d4 damage" Now this is potentially just intended for someone who would be at disadvantage, but who would prefer to do a lower amount of damage rather than lower their chances of hitting. Reading about Improvised Weapons: "If a character uses a ranged weapon to make a melee attack. Reading about Ranged Attacks in Close Combat: "when you make a ranged attack with a weapon, a spell, or some other means, you have disadvantage on the attack roll if you are within 5 feet of a hostile creature." Obviously this is intended to affect all ranged attacks, but doesn't really make any reference to whether you can actually make a ranged attack on a creature that you are in close combat with. Reading about Ranged Attacks: "When you make a ranged attack you fire a bow to strike a foe at a distance." Is 5 feet away at a distance? Or is 5 feet away so close that they can easily step within your reach, preventing you from firing at them? I was reading through the PHB looking at Crossbow Expert and trying to get a decent understanding of how it works. Long story short: RAW or RAI, can you actually take a point blank shot with a ranged weapon, or if you're attacking a creature within 5 feet do you have to make a melee attack?
